Last post from July 2009? This might have looked like an early retirement I guess. Not that there weren’t any news to tell. Quite the contrary would be the case. The last six months were quite heavy. Worked a lot, learnt a lot, thought a lot. So now having lots of plans and courage.

Just one after the other. Last quarters brought some bigger jobs and partnerships. And one of those cooperations will lead into a new company soon, at least that’s what I’m talking and thinking about quite a lot these days. Furthermore I was very pleased that Vienna based agendy Knallgrau (merged with Virtual Identity AG in the meantime) got me on board to work on different projects for clients like voestalpine and Philips. And then there was a boat-load of screendesign to do, for yacht charter businesses, online music quizzes and vacation portals. So the portfolio will gloom in new splendour soon.

Right now doing last tweaks on a regional community website focussing on trend sports, I’ll have fulfilled a good part of my order books – being eager to work on new things, ideas and sure there are other plants which I should be pouring at times.

And yes, I’ll try my best to write at more regular intervals again.
So long, stay tuned and happy easter ex ante.

and also because the administration, conversion, transfer and delivery of logos has been a pain in the ass for creatives ever since, my fellow collegues across the Arlberg decided to strike back and fight the very common and well-known logo madness — with Logobay.

Logobay is a web application which does not only play a bunch of conversion tricks (EPS in, many formats out). At the same time it acts as an administration center, a logo hub and as a secure public archive. And did I mention that it comes for free?

Freelenz delivered plenty of code (HTML/CSS), as well as a multi-language Wordpress system for the public website, coming along with FAQs and a forum, among other things.

Overly punctual we launched a new project yesterday, which I was working on quite eagerly over the past few weeks. Wohnzimmer thoroughly prepared the visual relaunch for 360, a regional youth identity card offering lots of specialties and discounts for youngsters in the region. They designed a whole bunch of fancy stuff, and while the battle of material and creative workshops with teenagers where still going on, Freelenz was taking care of the Website.

Again, Wordpress was the CMS of choice. Enhanced by all kinds of Plugins for events, polls and surveys or video embedding. Extended with a community area including profile pages, guestbooks and keep-in-mind-features. After all, they got a web interface and synchronization for/with an intern Oracle database allowing the associated partners (almost 400 small companies and institutions) to maintain their data and information about their offerings on their own.

In short: This was a nice one to work on. Accompanied by vivid colors, great project management and nice people. That’s how it should be. Always. So then, I might be working on another teeny project soon. This time with a mere focus on sports. But that would be another story, being told soon.

Sooner or later, all most logos look kind of frumpy and out-dated. And because this year is going to have some extra-verve (has anyone talked about crisis lately?), it might be nothing but opportune, to gain on aerodynamics. The lettering now forms a unit, no interruptions on lines anymore and some additional dynamics through a bit less straightness – those are the main changes. Speaking of fonts, I’m still using wonderful Bello, just the “F” gut a little extra tuition this time.

So right now this has still draft-status (just couldn’t resist to show it already). Opinions and comments are welcome. In case I (and you too, of course) still like it by next week, consider this my new logo. Business cards, stationery and such will come shortly after. Finally.
